Curb Machine Operator

The opportunity

Hold the line. Set the standard.

We’re looking for an operator who understands the machine and the concrete coming through it. You’ll prepare for each run, watch the finished profile as closely as the controls and work with the foreman to correct problems before they become rework.

What you’ll do

  • Review the planned run, survey controls, subgrade and access with the foreman before setup.
  • Set up the curb machine and appropriate mold; check guidance, elevation and crossfall against the approved layout.
  • Coordinate machine speed, concrete supply and vibration to maintain the required shape and finish.
  • Monitor curves, transitions and tie-ins; communicate with finishers and the delivery crew as conditions change.
  • Complete equipment checks and washdown, flag mechanical faults and follow safe shutdown procedures before servicing.

What you bring

  • Hands-on experience operating curb-and-gutter or comparable slipform concrete equipment.
  • Ability to interpret layout information and recognize line, grade, drainage and material-consistency problems.
  • Sound equipment judgment, clear crew communication and dependable attendance at assigned jobsites.

A plus, not a requirement

  • Experience with different curb profiles, tight-radius work and commercial or public-site concrete.

On the jobsite

These are active outdoor jobsites in the Phoenix area, with heat, sun, noise, dust and moving equipment. Work involves standing, bending, kneeling, uneven ground and handling tools or materials as the task requires. Follow site safety and heat precautions, use required protective equipment and ask for assistance when needed. Start times follow the pour schedule; early starts and occasional overtime or weekends may be needed.
